The Signature Breaks way

A good journey is edited — not filled.

For more than fifteen years, we have planned journeys around what makes a place worth travelling to — the right house, the right guide, the right table, the right time of day — and left enough room to enjoy them.

Along the way we have learnt that a beautiful hotel isn't always the right hotel, that the most memorable evening can be a few streets from the famous one, and that some journeys need an early start while others need a morning with nothing planned. If we recommend something, there is a reason — and we will tell you what it is.

Curation

Fewer places, chosen well — what we would book for ourselves, and nothing just to fill a day.

Pace

Enough time in each place to actually experience it, with free mornings where they matter.

Judgement

If a season, route or hotel is wrong for you, we will tell you — before you have paid for it.

Destinations

Places we know.

The places we return to, and the ones we are still discovering.

Questions

Good to know.

Tailor-made holidays
What is a tailor-made holiday?

A journey designed only for you — around your dates, your pace and the people you are travelling with. We start with a conversation, send a considered plan with the reasons behind each choice and a clear price, and arrange every detail once you are happy with it.

Where can you plan a trip to?

Most of the world. The places listed under Places we know are where we plan most often, from India and Sri Lanka to Japan, Europe, the Arctic and Africa. If you have somewhere else in mind, ask — and if we are not the right people for it, we will tell you.

Do you plan for families and special occasions?

Yes. Family holidays with children and grandparents, honeymoons, milestone birthdays and anniversaries — with the rooms, pace and days planned around everyone who is travelling.

Can you work to a budget?

Yes. Tell us roughly what you would like to spend and we will plan around it, including where it is worth spending more and where it is not. Every plan comes with a clear price.

What do you arrange?

Everything the journey needs: hotels, flights, visas, travel insurance, transfers, guides and restaurant bookings, with dietary needs shared ahead of time and clear documents for every day of the trip.

What happens once we are travelling?

You have a planner a message away for the whole trip, who knows your plans and can change them if something comes up. And when you travel with us again, we remember what you liked.

How far ahead should we plan?

Three to six months ahead gives the best choice of hotels, and longer for peak seasons such as February in Lapland or November in Kyoto. Shorter notice is often possible too — just ask.

Small-group journeys
How big are the groups?

Small. Our journeys take between twelve and eighteen guests, depending on the place — up to twelve on the Nile dahabiya and in North Kerala, up to eighteen north of the Arctic Circle. Every departure has a Signature Breaks host travelling with the group.

Can one of your journeys be arranged privately?

Yes. Any of our journeys can be arranged for your own family or friends, on dates that suit you.

How do we join a journey?

Send an enquiry from the journey's page and we will share the full itinerary, dates and price. Places are limited, so the earlier the better.
